"See You Later" not "Goodbye"

We've had so many great times this season! And now, as the season comes to a close, we can reflect on all of those great memories. Most recently we had Trophy Day when all of our favorite players received trophies for their hard work all season long, and pictures (thanks Coach Steve!) to remember it by. A week prior we also had to bid an early but fond "see you later" to Dan, who had all eyes on him as he received his trophy. We all definitely remember when Lily ran the bases so fast and kept running, right out of the field! Who could forget the Leslie Dance, Justin's national anthem, Skylar's "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", or Josh's beatboxing? Certainly no one missed Double Trouble charging the mound or the Fantastic Four loading the bases for a grand slam! We've had the volunteers show pride in their work by Celebrating Volunteerism and pledging on the Patriots' site. And we even had some new volunteers this year, with some of the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders (and a few adults) from St. John the Evangelist School in Beverly, Mass. coming in on one fine Saturday. (Thank you! We'd love to see you all again!) We had a great time together at Casino Night and raised a ton of money towards the turf field! (Check out a live tally on our website.) Long story short, we've had the most amazing season and can't wait for the Spring. But until then, we encourage you to share your favorite memories below. We didn't even come close to mentioning everything we loved about the season, so please help us out!

  1. My favorite Miracle League moment of my daughter Skylar's first season playing actually didn't take place at a Miracle League game. You see, a very prominent characteristic of Skylar's autism is her communication challenges. These challenges often make it appear as though she doesn't want to play with others, her Dad included. Thus, you can imagine my joy when she approached me a few weeks after the season started to say, "Daddy, play baseball with me." It was the first time I'd ever heard her ask anyone to play anything with her. It was also a dream come true for me. Thank you, Miracle League!

  2. Wow...this is a wonderful idea! One of my favorite things about the Miracle League has always been the positive energy you get while being with such positive people every weekend. Kyle looked at me this season and said "I wish the whole world was like this instead of having mean people. Can we teach them to be that way?" I have to agree.
One of my favorite memories of the season..there are so many great ones! All of the ones mentioned so far come under that heading, but just seeing Kyle come out of his shell and show his heart - going around the bases with friends encouraging them, getting in there and being able to concentrate on getting a hit, and taking the positive feelings from here and applying them in his life - and being brave enough to talk to the church about something important to him and raise that money - those are all my most favorite memories. Thank you so much, and here's to many more!!

  3. Wow - what a season! I could type all night listing all my favorite moments of this season, but if I had to choose just one, I would say that my favorite part of Miracle League is listening to players encouraging both teammates and opponents after a swing and a miss. Week after week, our players really show us what the game of baseball is all about. I am also very proud of our buddies. This fall, we had 175 volunteers! Thank you all - without you, there wouldn't be a Miracle League of Massachusetts.
    See you in the Spring!
